We use reproduction Buttermilk paint colors and a hard paste wax finish to make these traditional looking boxes. Painted original Shaker boxes seem to be the ones most treasured by collectors. Originals were done in a variety of colors from salmon pink (a carrier in the collection at Fruitlands Museum) to black. For those of us who can't afford originals we offer our reproductions in six colors: Red, Yellow, Blue, Green, Grey Green and Black. Each box is lightly distressed to approximate the look of a well used original. All of our painted boxes are finished to order and branded before painting so they will not be mistaken for originals. Please call to order, as our order basket system doesn't do colors.
